Teignmouth is a town in Devon along the southwest coast of England. For those traveling from London, the two best options to reach the area are by train or car. There is a direct train from London Waterloo to Exeter St. David where you can then make a quick switch to take a short train to Teignmouth. The total journey is about 3 - 4 hours by train. Alternatively, for those who prefer to drive, the drive from South London will be about 3.5 hours (or a bit more if you hit traffic). With this in mind the journey time is similar and depends more so on your preference.
The town itself is small and very walkable. It can be helpful to have a car if you want to leave the town or go for a shop, but this is also doable with a taxi so not a necessity. Base yourself in town where it is walkable to shops and restaurants to make it easy to walk and explore
Yannon Towers is a great place to stay when visiting Teignmouth with a group. It's about a 15 minute walk (uphill) from the train station and is essentially an old castle. The walk uphill provides rewarding views from the property itself, including from its very own rooftop!
