Traveling to Brighton from London is very easy. There are trains running London Blackfriars, London Bridge, London St. Pancras, and London Victoria to Brighton. Trains take about 1 hour 20 minutes depending on which route you select. There are frequent trains between London and Brighton (a few each hour) and the train is quick out to the coast, making it a very easy day-trip from London.
The town of Brighton is on the coast. Getting to the beach from the train station is an easy walk and wandering around the town is nice on foot. There are buses and taxis as well if needed for a different way of getting around.
Many make the trip to Brighton because it is an easy spot to get to from London to enjoy a beach day and spend time on the coast. The beach in Brighton is a pebble beach so pack beach chairs or, if you are happy to sit on the stones on a blanket then pack a towel or blanket. The beach is long and makes for a nice day-trip when weather is nice. Be prepared to share the beach with crowds on nice weekend days in the summer.
The pier in Brighton extends out into the English Channel for half a kilometer and includes an amusement park, arcade games, and food stands along it.
The oldest neighborhood in Brighton, The Lanes are made-up of many small alleys line with local shops, restaurants, and cafes. Be sure to at least wander through here when visiting Brighton. It ends up being a great area to grab a bite to eat.
Great restaurant in Brighton to get seafood. There are two locations, one in The Lanes and one along the beach on the promenade. Both will be suitable, but the Lanes location has a nice atmosphere and is tucked away from the crowds on the beach. The Lanes location does not take reservations so just walk-in and see if you are able to enjoy some of the excellent seafood.
